Of course!  You can add library staff in a support role to your Canvas course.  The librarian is able to answer any questions posted to the forum and can provide custom links and resources that fit student needs.  While not right for every course, anyone teaching a course that is considered library intensive is always free to contact me to see how we can give students easy access to their library staff and resources.  The instructor also has an option of building a LibGuide to better meet a course's needs.

Once added to your course, the librarian can:

  • Set up virutal office hours using LibCal
  • Post relevant content to an online blog or message board
  • Alert students to the latest books or articles relevant to their research topics
  • Create a Research Guide targeted to your course's research assginemnts
  • Design pre- and post- tests to assess students' research skills
To get started, reach out to your local librarian for more information on contact the LRC at asklibrary@tstc.edu.
