Q. How do I make a hanging indent for my citations?

Microsoft 365

  1. Select the text where you want to add a hanging indent.
  2. Go to Home > Paragraph dialog launcher  > Indents and Spacing.
  3. Under Special, select Hanging. You can adjust the depth of the indent using the By field.
  4. Select OK.

Google Docs

  1. Select the text where you want to add the hanging indent.
  2. Go to Format > Align & Indent > Indention Options.
  3. The dropdown menu under Special Indent, select Hanging.  You can adjust the depth of the indent by entering an amount in the resulting empty box.
  4. Select Apply.
